Coach
Steve Leo is a distinguished performance coach with over two decades of experience in speed, strength, and athletic development. With a B.S. in Sports Administration from Centenary College, Steve has devoted his career to helping athletes achieve peak performance. He is the owner of Leo Training Systems LLC and previously launched and operated the Parisi Speed School in Sparta, NJ, for eight successful years, during which his facility earned the prestigious Parisi Facility of the Year Award in 2014.
Currently, Steve serves as the Sprints/Horizontal Jumps Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field teams at Drew University in Madison, NJ. In his inaugural season, Steve’s coaching led to two Landmark Conference Championships, 12 medalists, and five athletes qualifying for the NCAA Division III Regionals—a testament to his training expertise.
From 2017 to 2024, Steve also held the position of Director of Strength and Conditioning at Gill St. Bernard’s School, where he made a remarkable impact. Under his guidance, the school’s athletic program celebrated seven State Championships, two Individual State Champions in track, and over 20 athletes securing college athletic commitments.
Steve’s credentials are a reflection of his dedication and versatility in the field. He holds USA Track and Field (USATF) Level 1 and 2 certifications as a Sprints & Jumps Specialist and is a certified USA Weightlifting Coach (USAW). His skill set is further reinforced by certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Steve is also a leader in integrating cutting-edge training technologies. As a Vertimax Master Trainer and a member of the Vertimax Advisory Board, he has been named Vertimax Trainer of the Year twice, in 2019 and 2023. His forward-thinking approach to performance training extends beyond Vertimax—he is also an Altis Speed Specialist, Blaze Pod Master Trainer, and holds advanced certifications in Functional Movement Screen (FMS) Level 2, Reflex Performance Reset (RPR), and TRX Suspension Training.
Through his relentless commitment and innovative mindset, Steve Leo continues to set new standards in athletic performance coaching, making him a sought-after expert in the field and a transformative figure for athletes and professionals alike.
Steve currently lives in Rockaway NJ with his wife Michelle, Daughters Samantha (18-Ursinus College Track athlete) and Maggie (14-Morris Knolls HS Swimmer))
